A long day of customer and partner meetings as well as press interviews. I actually expected that I'd need to do a lot more evangelism around insider threats. However, it was refreshing to see how many organizations clearly understood the risks, and further were interested in application and database security controls to address it.
Italy is keen on addressing insider threats and this is in part because of new regulations that will be enforced in December 2010 regarding privilege user monitoring. It seems that much of the government (Rome) and many of the financial and telecommunication organizations have been working diligently to secure their data; they are looking at controls that will track how users are interacting with their data through Web portals and to databases.
Another area of interest - no surprise as it is an area of interest everywhere - is cloud computing. As more organizations are moving large portions of their operational environments into the cloud, the want and need even security controls to protect their data.
