Black Hat & Dark Reading Virtual Event Today

I'll be presenting at today's Black Hat Virtual Event. The theme is IT Security - The Next Decade. The speaker lineup is very cool and includes:

  • Jeff Moss - founder of Black Hat and DEFCON
  • Winn Schwartau, author, speaker, leading expert and Futurist in information security, infrastructure protection and electronic privacy
  • Alexander Hutton, Sr. Analyst, Risk Intelligence, Verizon
  • Rich Mogull, CEO, Securosis
  • Jeremiah Grossman, founder and CTO, WhiteHat Security
  • And many others

My presentation is as follows.

Threatscape Evolution: Data is Valuable; Bad Guys Want It

Charles Darwin said it best, “It is not the strongest of the species that survives…It is the one that is the most adaptable to change.” Adaptability: the bad guys have adapted, but many organizations are still bringing a knife to a gun fight when it comes to data security. In this session learn how data is the new-new target because of its value. Data resides on databases, and people get to those databases through Web applications. Unfortunately Web application and database security remains one of the most vulnerable areas across virtually every geography and business vertical. Hear why.
